The Kevlar Heart, a suspense novel
K-9 officer Brinna Caruso loves being a cop.  And she likes
nothing better than stopping bad guys before they can hurt
anyone else--especially children.  She fears her mission will
be stalled when Jack O'Reilly, a cop on the downside of his
career, becomes her partner.  When a man surfaces,
exhibiting an MO similar to a criminal who abducted Brinna as
a child, she knows, Jack or no Jack, that the clock is ticking.
She has to find the child recently gone missing--before it's
too late.
"Great story...exciting twists...realistic characters to root for"  Lauraine
Snelling, Author

It was the title that first drew me in. Once I saw the girl cop cover and read
the title, I thought the story must have more than girl-shoots-bad guy depth.
Glad I was right. The main character Brinna (even her name is part of her
baggage)receives hits to her personal and professional life which knock her off
the "I am a rock" life philosophy she's always held. The cop life is richly
illustrated for the reader. There's many story threads woven well throughout.
Sometimes I thought the two main characters were a bit repetitive with their
angst; however, they made it through to a believable end. A couple of
proofreading errors popped out to me as dings for the publisher, but in terms
of story, this author has produced a solid first novel. Not to mention it made
me want to eat at all-night restaurants.. Kathleen Wright, Teacher, writer

What I enjoyed most about this book is that it felt like I was riding shotgun
next to Brinna the whole way. The fact that the book was written by a former
police officer adds authenticity to everything Brinna and Jack do. I think that's
why it seemed more "real" than watching a police show on TV. Yet, I didn't
feel overwhelmed or bored with details. And of course, I loved the dog, Hero!
